D.O.B: 3/7/1989 Nationality: British
Profile Highly motivated, well-presented and creative individual with an attentive eye for detail, I am an effective communicator who is confident, a good team worker, reliable, and enjoys a challenge. I am currently studying my 3rd year of Interior Design (Ba Hons) at the University of Lincoln.
Throughout my 3 years at University I have developed many skills from computer programmes to model making and free hand drawing. All of the projects in years 2 and 3 required development work, orthographic drawings, technical details and visuals. I enjoy the process of a project starting with sketching and model making moving onto the construction details then working on visuals. I find visuals to be the most enjoyable aspect to a project to which express my designs. I have knowledge of technical detailing and construction as well as specifications, contracts and tenders. These were all an important aspects within my final year.
In my projects I cross boundaries with interior design and architecture. My work is inspired by architects Daniel Libeskind and Zaha Hadid; I have created my own distinctive style by blurring the boundaries of the interior and exterior of a building. For my final project this year I created an event for Weston-Super-Mare’s Grand Pier 2010. I have formed a journey throughout the space, along a timeline of the Grand Piers History. My design is focussed on the liminal space of a pier, being ‘in- between’ land and sea, the design is to explore inside and outside by blurring the threshold of these space. With a series of wall partitions you are taken through darkened spaces with fluorescent lighting to represent arcades and rides, to the light spaces reflecting the sea and beach which is linked to the pier. The wall partitions are made of coloured polycarbonate, which extends through to the floor above to create tunnel like forms that you walk through, by leaving gaps in between each partition it enables the visitor to see snippets of the view of the floor below. I have additionally designed a cinema, media centre and paranormal museum throughout my 3 years at university. These projects were chosen out of a choice between 3 out of 5 options, which has reflected the designer I aim to be. I enjoy commercial and leisure designs as I believe they fit my adventurous creative style.
Attached to my C.V. are few visuals from my portfolio from some of these projects listed above.
